We are thrilled to announce that Kiersten Hewitt has been named the new Executive Director of FCD Prevention Works. In this role, Kiersten will be responsible for leading the organization in its mission to keep healthy kids healthy by managing the client relations, program services, administrative services, and worldwide operations of FCD.
Kiersten joined FCD in 2013 and since then has served as a Senior Prevention Specialist and Mid-Atlantic Regional Officer. Kiersten brings with her years of clinical and supervisory experience specializing in adolescent substance abuse disorders from her work with Onward Behavioral Health in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Kiersten received her B.A. in Organizational Management from Cabrini College in Radnor, Pennsylvania, and her Masters of Science and Education from St. Joseph’s University in Philadelphia. She also received a Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor certification from Villanova University in Villanova, Pennsylvania. She has three young adult sons and is an active volunteer in her community.
As Executive Director of FCD, Kiersten replaces the beloved Tom Gee, who will be enjoying a well-deserved retirement beginning in September. Having joined FCD in 2001, Tom served as Senior Vice President and Executive Vice President before being named the organization’s top administrator in 2011.
Tom has lived a life of service, including roles on the original staffs of both the Peace Corps and the U.S. Office of Economic Opportunity, which created Head Start, Upward Bound, VISTA, the Job Corps, and many other “war on poverty” programs. He is a former college president and a consultant to institutions of higher education and non-profits, having served more than 40 organizations as a manager, consultant, or board member.
Everyone at FCD wishes Tom the very best as we enthusiastically welcome Kiersten into her new role. She looks forward to leading the organization into a bright future and connecting with as many of our clients – past, present, and future – as possible!
